What is Project LOVEly?
What is Project LOVEly? Project LOVEly is a new grant-giving venture from This Star Won't Go Out. Project LOVEly seeks to inspire young people to actions that reflect the "Esther Effect," instilling hope, creating spaces of awesome, and demonstrating love in their communities.
Since 2011, TSWGO has worked passionately to reduce stress for families facing childhood cancer through giving financial grants. While we are proud to say we have given out over $450,000 in grants, what amazes us is that the majority of this sum has been raised by young people who have caught our vision, and who have said with Esther “we just want to make a difference in the world.” We started calling this the Esther Effect and began to wonder how much more these friends could do given the opportunity.
Thanks to generous donors, Project LOVEly is launching on Esther Day, August 3, 2017, turning dreams into reality. This year Project LOVEly will make it possible for two young people between the ages of 13-30 to turn their creative ideas into practical, hands-on actions that reflect advocacy and service, and make the world a better place. Selected applicants will be matched with a skilled mentor, provided with a $5000 budget, and encouraged in their project throughout the grant year.
Applications for grants are open from August 30-September 30, 2017. Projects should have a clear focus and mission and be implemented between October 2017 to June 2018. Each grant recipient will be expected to prepare a video of their project for the Project LOVEly celebration on June 21, 2018.
